Allow me to formally introduce myself as Heidi, the driving force behind Zen Dough Bakery!

I have recently embraced the opportunity to become a certified Cottage Bakery here in Marshall, Minnesota focusing on crafting sourdough artisan breads & baked goods! I’m excited to begin sharing my creations with the community!

My Story
My sourdough journey began in October of 2023 when I stumbled upon a post about sourdough starter. Intrigued by the process, I embarked on a personal challenge to create my own, seeing it as a fun experiment.
In my research, I discovered that the bread community is unlike any other I’ve encountered. It’s a realm of kindness, warmth, abundant knowledge, and unwavering support, where enthusiasts willingly share the highs and lows of their journey. Understanding that each individual’s process is unique became the catalyst for my eagerness to explore new techniques and broaden my understanding.
Having grappled with anxiety and depression for years, I soon discovered that the art of sourdough-making grounded my anxious mind and offered respite from the hustle of daily life. In this pursuit of simplicity, Zen Dough Bakery was born.
As my bakes progressed, I embraced the opportunity and committed to becoming certified as a Cottage Bakery in December 2023. Then, in February of 2024, I took the decisive step of officially registering the business with the State of Minnesota!
